Contracts and Grants Manager DEFINITION & PURPOSE:
Develops and coordinates grant funded programs for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation.
The Grants Accountant provides primary accounting functions for all grant monitoring administration, compliance, and financial reports of awarded grants through project closeout.
Ensures the appropriate use and accurate reporting of all financial transactions on contracts and grants.

Essential Functions:

The omission of specific duties does not exclude them from the position if the work is similar, related, or a logical assignment to the position) Posting, balancing, reconciling and summarizing financial transactions for grant funded programs.
Prepare and submit quarterly, monthly, semi-annual and annual external financial reports based upon contract requirements.
Completes financial reports and requests for reimbursements based on grantor specifications.
Monitor grant activity including cost overruns, cost sharing and unallowable expenses.
Analyze general ledger to ensure proper costs are charged to budgets.
Complete journal entries as needed.
Researches any discrepancies in invoices, payments and orders to achieve resolution.
Review and verify grant funded purchasing requisitions.
Initiate corrections when necessary and directed by Contracts and Grants Manager.
Monitor grant budgets; identify issues and concerns and communicate with Contracts and Grants Manager.
Maintains, organizes, and labels master files on grants in the required centralized area that is readily accessible by finance staff and auditors.
Assist in the preparation of the grant Schedule A-133 for the annual financial audit and prepare and reconcile all required work papers and financial statements such as the SEFA.
Communicates with staff, and external grant administrators to resolve issues regarding grants.
Establish good rapport with internal key personnel to assist with the successful financial administration of grants.
Writes periodic reports to comply with grant requirements.
Collect contract money and analyze cash accounts and deposit information; ensure receivable is posted to correct department.
Performs other duties as assigned or required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Knowledge of grant and contract administration.
Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
Knowledge of grant and contract funding sources.
Knowledge of budgeting techniques.
Skill in writing and reviewing grant specifications.
Advanced understanding of accounting related processes related to purchasing / procurement for grant funded programs.
Expertise in financial administration of grant funds, including preparation of financial reports.
Must possess a high level of accuracy and be detail orientated.
Advanced knowledge in use of a personal computer, Word, Excel; advanced database skills.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective and cooperative working relationships with other departments of the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation and its Enterprises; vendors, other interested parties and the public.
Skill in the use of the PC 93-638 model contract.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
Five years of increasingly responsible experience in grant and contract administration.
Minimum 3 years' experience in grant accounting in a Government Agency setting.
Excellent organizational and critical thinking skills.
Experience with single audit and SEFA development processes / regulations.
POSITION STATUS:
Regular, Full-Time PAY RATE:
$66,336.
53 to $92,871.
